Filing a Takedown Notice

How to submit a valid DMCA notice.

To file a valid DMCA takedown notice, your written communication must include all of the following elements as required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3):

  • A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or person authorised to act on their behalf
  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed
  • Identification of the infringing material and its location (URL or specific description)
  • Your contact information — name, address, telephone number, and email address
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act on their behalf

Filing a false DMCA notice may expose you to liability for damages, including costs and legal fees, under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f). Please verify your claims before submitting.

Our Response Process

What happens after we receive your notice.

Once we receive a valid DMCA notice, we follow this process:

  1. 1We review the notice to verify it meets all legal requirements under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3).
  2. 2If valid, we act promptly to remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material.
  3. 3We notify the affected party (if applicable) and provide them with a copy of the notice.
  4. 4We allow the affected party to submit a counter-notification if they believe the takedown was in error.
  5. 5If a valid counter-notification is received, we may restore the material after 10–14 business days unless the copyright owner seeks a court order.

Counter-Notifications

If you believe a takedown was filed in error.

If you believe your content was removed due to a mistaken or misidentified DMCA notice, you may submit a counter-notification. A valid counter-notification must include:

  • Your physical or electronic signature
  • Identification of the removed material and its location before removal
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification
  • Your name, address, telephone number, and email address
  • A statement that you consent to jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address

Send counter-notifications to the same address as takedown notices: [email protected].
